Here it is middle of winter - supposed to bloom early to midseason - so why is it blooming now???
Not that I am complaining - I do hope we are in for an early spring.

2008 seedlling H.Basuto selfed

Maiden Bloom with a 25 cm diameter

The bloom on this bought a little sunshine on otherwise a very rainy period.

I was a little disappointed in the height of the scape which barely lifted the bloom of the ground - perhaps it will do better next year.
The other feature I would like to see an improvement on is more than 2 blooms

General techniques / Recycling Onions
« on: June 05, 2013, 02:57:09 AM »
Onions are rather difficult to recycle as you cannot put them into your compost bin as it is toxic to your worms

Stand the end offcut in a shallow bit of water they will start to sprout

Plant them and you get more onions :)
