Cycad Habitat Photos
« on: July 05, 2008, 16:58:30 PM »
I Discovered this site in the Baviaanskloof earlier this week. I could not get close for an identification but I think it is Encephalartos longifolius.
Quality is not so good because I used x22 optical zoom.

Thanks guys,

I estimated about 70 - 90 plants in that small area, but very localised.

Eugene, I was to far away to tell but they are growing in the nature reserve and fairly inaccessable. I was with my son (Civil Eng. with Dept of Water and forestry). It is not in an area where the public has access.

NB if anyone is in the area, I will gladly go and show him/her.

There is also a location outside Kareedouw with E longifolius that I can get to.

Regards
