Lovely!
2nd pic is really lovely.
There is a daylily 'farm' called daylily park - www.daylilypark.co.za (the owner Chris ['Berge'] is a member, but haven't seen a post from him for a while) where they have used agapanthus in their landscaping with daylilies.  They make an excellent display together.  Check out their site for pics, if you like.
Best Regards,

Mel.

Dear all,

almost forgot to show my darkest Agapanthus 'Black Panther'. Of course, she is not black at all  ;)!
During the last few weeks there were heavy rainstorms and even hail with grains like golfballs, so everything was soaking wet and much damage done. Then came a heatwave with more than 30?C, changing with heavy winds and rain again... all flowers suffered a lot.

Here again in contrast to the white Aga:

Enjoy!
Best,

Joyce.

Joyce
I have an Agapanthus 'Black Panther' but as yet have not seen her blossom - with a name like that I guess I imagined her to be a lot lot darker.

Your Agie looks very nice but I feel dudded  :'(

But I guess it will look different to all the others, funny how one gets preconcieved ideas from the name - it has nothing to do with black or panther.

Abby -

Your black panther flower must have opened by now??  I know you posted the photo of the bud in another thread (but can't find it...)

I'm curious - one of the nurseries here has a special on the black panthers - R99.00 instead of R169.00 - but that is still a lot of cash for an aggie.

Rena

The buds are somewhere in the "A Laugh a Day ..." column and most probably a rightful place for it.

The name is a joke - it is a take - the name has nothing to do with the colour of the bloom.

Whilst the bud and stem look promising in a dark navy colour - unfortunatelly as it the florets are opening in much paler shade as Joyce shows above. I do not think of what I am seeing that it is not nearly as pretty as the pale blue or the white which of course look magic.

Will try to get more pix later before it fuly opens - but maybe if I take it now in the dark as it is 5 am - they may look better.

Here are the buds of the Black Pantha so they are easier to find

and here is a couple more pix as they are starting to open.

My aggies are avery pale blue but my neighbour has some that are a bit darker than mine.

The Black Pantha is more a purple colour what I see of the buds that have opened and the black stem has already faded.

Rena

you will have to be patient a little longer ;D

Abby - you should know that patience is not one of my virtues..... ;D  But I'll try......

I was hoping the stems would stay black when the buds open - but that doesn't seem to be.

Update on the Black Pantha

:woohoo: Just an update on the Black Pantha

We had a hailstorm pass through and I sheltered them under a tree but they do look a little tattered.

But still not fully opened

Very nice, Abby - my son has some that have opened fully and they look just like yours - but they don't seem to be exactly what they are advertised as: "black stems... and large blue, black umbels of flowers" - but still very nice.
