Cryptocereus anthonyanus (Ric Rac plant)

Does anybody know if this an epi? It grows in a similar manner.

It has never flowered and seems to grow quite slowly - might be one of those that wants to be quite pot-bound and established before it blooms.

Rena

Thanks for sharing such an unusual plant.

I am not terribly familiar with the cacti kingdom but I think this link may be of assistance in determining your specie and cultivation of CRYPTOCEREUS ANTHONYANUS

Thanks Abby - for the info - what a name!

I hope I did the right thing by changing the subject name - I seem to recall a request to change subject name to proper name when identified.

Your photo looks very much like Cryptocereus Anthonyanus. This is a night flowering plant and the flower has a slight fragrance. How old is that plant? I have found that these plants only flower after about 5years. It is an Epiphyte and falls into the cactaceae family, similar to the Epiphyllum plants, I have about 200 different Epiphyllums.
If you are anywhere near Gardenworld Nursery in JHB from 16th to 28th April 2009 we will be having a sale of our plants there (our nursery is called Holiday Cactus)

Thanks for the info - my plant is about 5yrs old, so maybe I will get some flowers soon.  It's growing in a hanging basket with my other epiphyllums and they are flowering well - so maybe I was just too impatient.
