My roses 2009
« on: May 31, 2009, 23:30:33 PM »
Dear all,

the first roses have started flowering, so I wanted to share them with you.

Augusta Louise (cut because too much rain was announced):

Caribia (standard):

Blue for You (Fryers):

Scentimental:

Camille Pissarro (Delbard):

All are strongly scented  :) - sorry that I cannot send it to you....
Best wishes,

Joyce.

Beautiful Joyce !

Your standard looks great and your bi-coloured ones are extraordinary!

"Blue for You", I guess, is beautiful in a mixed flower bed......  :)

Thanks for sharing!

Our roses are nearly at the end of the season and some look like as if they can't wait to be pruned.

Thank you for your kind replies! I forgot to mention: Blue for You was one of the six roses I imported in November 08 from Fryers,  England - bare-rooted. They all survived our ghastly winter (about minus 20 degrees C) and have now started growing. Blue for you is a cluster-flowered Floribunda, height up to 90 cm, so what you see are only her maiden blooms.

Joyce
All your roses seem to be loving that climate but glad it is you living there and not me - I complain everytime it falls below 10C which is quite a few winter nights during July and August.

The daytime temperature is usually between 18 - 22C and on the real cold days it is 15C, fotunatelly there are not too many of them.

Abby, I complain these temps, too! But can't help....
Here is an old love of mine, Capistrano (bred by Morris, USA, 1949) and still strong:

and Acapella (Charlies Rose)/TANallepa
Breeder: Evers, Germany 94 / Tantau, HT large-flowered, strong fragrance, very large, full bloom form, 100 - 120 cm
magenta petals, white backside:

Enjoy!
Best,

Joyce.
