Flowering Bonsai at the Korea Bonsai Museum
« Reply #15 on: April 21, 2010, 09:23:21 AM »
Hello everyone. We were privileged to visit this beautiful collection of Bonsai again last weekend. All the spring blossoms were in full bloom, and the new maple leaves were as bright as flowers too.

It is a family run enterprise, and they have been growing and collecting bonsai (boonjae in Korean) for 35 years. They have an amazing collection of more than 12 000 trees.

It needs to be experienced in person, but I hope you enjoy the photos.

There were all kinds of flowering cherries, apricots, quinces etc, Japanese red maples, Trident maples etc, Korean Hornbeams, junipers, pines and many more. I focused on the flowering plants and other bright colours.

This is an interesting vine like tree I'm not able to indentify.

I wanted to take some photos of flowering Wisteria bonsai for Rena, but there was just buds... But 2 weeks from now, at the International Goyang flower show, there will be some great bonsai exhibitions again, so we'll have to wait and see!

This is one of those posts I'm going to come back to often. Thank you Clemens!
So beautiful. And no barriers or do not touch signs? Amazing.
PS. your Chinese seedlings are still looking happy.

Hey Clemens - amazing - they are all so beautiful!!

It's impossible to single one special one out....but the last photo in your first post.....quite a nice specimen.....
- Is that you looking at us??

And of course the specimen I was referring to was the maple................... ;) ;) ;)

I'll also be coming back to these photos quite a few times - I'm busy trying to get hold a a chap who is in charge of the bonsai section at Stellenbosch university - to do some damage control to our neighbour's 2 big bonsais - a ficus and a doringboom (he tried to prune them himself and made an unholy mess) and to also do some maintenance to our own few bonsais.  If I can get the camera to play with me I'll take some before photos.

I've got this idea in my head (and believe me it doesn't happen often at this age....) of a little zen garden with bonsai and all the katooties - maybe THE DOG can go and meditate there and change her sinful ways.........

Yes, please - photos of wisteria bonsais - and ALL the others ;D

Retired - now full-time gardener - and loving it!
