Impala Lillies
« on: October 12, 2009, 16:34:29 PM »
Here are the little Impalas. Thanks for the encouragement - I have posted them myself!

November 2008 - The little Impalas just after I have planted them in the plastic bags.

February 2009 - They are growing at a good rate.

October 2009 - They survived the long cold winter, some already have 5 new leaves.

Well done indeed.

Adeniums are some of my favourite plants. They look stunning with aloes and other succulents in a rockery.

We had a discussion about the topic on the clivia forum a few months ago. That was before I joined this forum...It is quite informative, with some nice photos.

It's amazing all the hybrids available overseas. Does anyone know where in SA some of these new types are for sale? They are much easier to grow, and can tolerate water better.

Anyway, here is the link. http://www.cliviaforum.co.za/forum/index.php?topic=7086.0

Regards, Clemens.

Stef, I really don't think they will be planted in my garden, due to all the shade and water.  Maybe I will plant them in pots where I can control the water.
Clemens, I know the Botanical Gardens in Nelspruit had a few impalas when we visited them in April.  Mostly the Zambian one.  My mother-in-law also have a Zambian one that did not loose it's leaves during the winter months and are flowering now for about six months non stop.
Yes, water is a big problem with them.  During the winter I only sprayed them lightly once a month and during summer I water them only every two weeks, about one cup each.
