It is just so sad to see your effort destroyed  :'(

I find slugs and snails hate crawling over crushed eggshells - further more they stay for a long period of time hence the moluscs do not catch you unaware.

     Abby: I don't know how I missed your beautiful clivia a year ago, but please accept my belated congratulations! 
     Rena: your garden is wonderful, with the schlumbs, and avocados and clivias and the nice brick patio and all.  Thanks for the glimpse!

They are still lovely.

I have seen "wild" clivias with the same damage, and they have to cope with all nature can throw at them and still survive, and have done for thousands of years.

Too much pampering will breed out hardy genes, and we will end up with plants unable to survive outdoors without extra watering and pesticides...

Stroking is nice anytime whether now or a year later  ;)

My thoughts on the matter of where to post would be a couple of gateways between the two Forums with every body having a dual membership hence when I post in our Clivia section it would be a gateway into the Clivia Forum and likewise when a post would be made in Other Plants a gateway would automatically open into GardenerForum.
