Marrows - Something special
« on: December 01, 2011, 08:27:02 AM »
This is interesting

I have measured 2 marrows growing over 3 days and these are the results.

Marrow 1
  Day 1 = 14cm by 3cm
  Day 1 = 16cm by 4cm
  Day 1 = 21cm by 6cm

Marrow 2
  Day 1 = 08cm by 1.5cm
  Day 1 = 10cm by 2.2cm
  Day 1 = 13cm by 3.7cm

Any other such stats - (No I dont feed with steroids)

I don't know Andre, maybe you have to open them after posting to move them to unread?

I've always wanted to grow a mega marrow, but the pumpkin flies........ :mean:

Andre  :)

Are the marrows on 2 different bushes or on the same bush ???
Sure is a lot of difference in growth but at the end it is the taste that counts - you will have to let us know how they compare  :-*

Apropos the recent unread posts queue - other people see it and it does not show for you as you already have read it ???

If you want to return to your own recent post

1.click on Gardenerforum or HOME top left hand side,
2.then scroll down to Gardenerforum - Info Center
3.Recent Posts which are listed according to date and time.

Hope that helps

Thanks Michael

Abby
No, this marrows are on the same bush and I have only selected 2 diffirent sizes to see what will happen in the growing performance.

Sorry for the initial posts as you would have gathered the days is supposed to be day 1,2,3, etc

Todays measurements are (Day 4)
Marrow 1 = 27cm by 6.5 - increase by 6cm by .5
Marrow 2 = 16cm by 4 - increase by 3cm by .5

They are going to be picked by tomorrow. will let you know.

My marrows start slow and then accelarate dramatically. You should start measuring when they are the same size.  :good:

Doug  :)

Are your thoughts running along the vein that perhaps the maturity of the plant/possibly warmer climate has an affect on increasing the size of a marrow fruit or perhaps that you give it better care after getting excited seeing the first fruits form ???

Abby,
My thoughts were not running along any veins.
My marrows just seem to start slow and the accelerate. Just like my thoughts.  ;D
