Lee  :)
Absolutely gorgeous

Rena  :'(
I use instant black coffee on my mealy bug problems - weekly spray keeps them at bay.
However I have not tried it on Hoya.

Not yet Rena, she keeps branching and each time I see a "bud" it turns out to be a new lead.  But she will flower :)

With respect to mealy bugs, you must remember how they get there.  Ants are the guilty party and once the ants are delt with then it is easy to remove the mealy bugs.

Lee - I've never seen ants on my hoya hanging baskets - so I presume they must be in the soil??

Would it be a good move to wash all the soil off them and repot in new soil?

They wouldn't be in the soil, but probably coming from a nest near by.  Try putting an ant trap near or watering the plants with jeyes fluid.

I have only seen your reply now. Lee - thank you.  I always have ant traps on my kitchen window-sill where my inside hoyas are, and so far they are at least bug-free.  But the outside ones in hanging baskets are the problem.

Have you (or anybody else) ever tried the Bayer Confidor pins for getting rid of mealy bugs??  If they work like they are supposed to it, they might be an answer to this problem.

:mmm: Try using garlic cloves - plant them about half way after cutting off their crown growth. Some people swear by this preventative measure.
