Can i plant veggie seeds that have past expiry date?
« on: November 12, 2012, 23:55:27 PM »
Well my gran recently handed me some seeds that she found when clearing out my late granddads gardening things..problem is these seed packets have expiry dates from 2009, and 1 from 2006
Can I plant  these seeds that have past expiry date?

What do we call you ?

As far as the seeds go it costs very little to plant them and that is about the only way you will find out whether they will grow. I would suggest you soak them overnight to rehydrate them if they are old.

Different seeds have different viability.

Absolutely! Especially if the packet is still sealed. Some seeds are viable for 1000s of years.

I do it all the time. Just sow thicker or put more in the same hole. so if half don't come up some will.  :good:
