Daylily Park Seedlings

I managed to take a few photos this morning. The blooms are lovely at the moment.
These are all own crossings.

Enjoy
Chris

Chris these are really stunning seedlings. I can see you are a master in breeding daylilies. I called my wife to show her these beauties and now i have a sore ear. She freaked at the beauties. Thanks for sharing.

Kind regards
Eddie

Thank you for your comments.

Abby, yes 4 has a special colour.
Clemens, you have an eye for a special daylily. The last one is a 2009 seedling and it flowers very 'true'. It is a very good performer and it is one of those which always look better in real life than on a photo. Number 3 is a first time bloomer and the colour is very eye catching.

Chris
PS. Abby this one is closest to blue that I have bred so far.

I hope the lilac with the darker eye and edge maintains it colouring. When my Caramello changed to Chocolade at first I was disappointed but now I am madly in love with it.

An absolutely exquisite eye  I love the way the yellow blends and joins the eye with the throat.

Those are all really nice I really like #3. There is not a bad one in the group, #4 is also very nice. How are the bud counts and how large are they?
My goodness isn't this fun!!!

Great to hear the bud counts are good there is nothing worse than a to die for flower with a low bud count.

I guess that is the difference between quality and quantity  ;)

You get to enjoy them longer. I have had some real stunners with bud counts of 8 to 10 but that is only 8 to 10 days blooming, less if you get 2 blooms open at the same time. One of my goals is a minimum of 18 and the same plants farther south in the US would probably get 24 or more. We are looking for 4 to 5 branches, with 18 or more buds that are not crowded.

I had AQUIRE THE FIRE finally send up scapes with more than 30 buds, I have seen photos of it with scapes that had over 100 buds. Age matters too some fans need to reach maximum size over the course of years to really produce high bud counts. I have some seedlings that are 5 years old that have just now proven themselves.

I have GENESTA which is a diploid that has outrageous bud counts and I enjoy the plant because it blooms Mid/Late season but will bloom for 45 to 60 days. The flower is a rather plain yellow and nothing really fancy but I really like it over some of the fancy plants that have low bud counts  and flowers that don't open well when we have cool nights and mornings.

I will use really nice flowers with low bud counts for breeding but only with really good plants that preform well here. The bottom line is we are looking to improve the entire plant, just not the flower. I have had some really special plants with bud counts of 3 on their initial bloom, usually they improve by year 3 and if they don't continue to improve they are gone. I do give some of them to friends and family so I can keep an eye on them but I have yet to reclaim any.
