Smiles flowering today.
« on: January 27, 2013, 13:29:05 PM »
This one had a brand name but the tag got lost.

This one's name is a good description of what i am doing at the moment. "Grandfather Time". I have a lot to do and would sit and get the feeling that i should do something. Luckily if i remain sitting the feeling goes away. I am taking some Grandfather Time and enjoying it.

Kind regards
Eddie

I had a look around and can't find a "GrandMOTHER'S Time" daylily.....but I need a LOT of it!

All I find is "Grandma Kissed Me" and "Grandma's Smile" and "Grandma's Lipstick"...... ;D

TO ALL THE GRANDMAS AND GRANDPAS OUT THERE - HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Very nice Eddie - especially so late in the season - are they late bloomers or rebloomers ?

Both Egyptian Ibis and Silver Veil are Munson blooms - I've only seen pictures of them, sure hard to tell the difference - surprisingly they are listed with a different parentage

Egyptian Ibis - http://www.daylilydb.com/?script=3.1
Year: 1984
Height:2' 2''
Diameter:6''
Season:Early Mid
Rebloom: Yes
Habit: Evergreen
Color/Descript:
cream lilac self with yellow green throat

Parentage:
   (NILE CRANE X BENCHMARK)

Silver Veil
Year: 1977
Height:2' 4''
Diameter: 5''
Season: Early Mid
Rebloom:Yes
Habit:Evergreen

Color/Descript:
pale lilac self with cream throat
Parentage:
[(CHICAGO REGAL x VATICAN KNIGHT) X MOUNTAIN VIOLET]

Abby thanks for the links and info. I picked them up when i collected the aggies and they had buds so i just went on my gut feeling. I think they might have been trained to bloom now by careful control in greenhouse conditions.

If i look at the descriptions of the flowers i would also go for Silver Veil as there is no hint of a green throat.

I do have some in my garden that is now going to rebloom. Seems like the weather is seriously upside down worldwide.

Kind regards
Eddie

I figured out the difference. Egiptian Ibis opened again this morning with a beautiful green throat that dissapeared later in the day. The flower was destroyed during heavy rain this afternoon but we need the rain as well so i am not sad about it.

Kind regards
Eddie
