Hi there,

A friend of mine's grandad was so kind to send me a box full of succulents from his garden, this past weekend.  This plant was sitting on the top of the heap.  I don't know what it is or where I should plant it or how big it gets?

Any ideas?

Hi. I'm not 100% certain. But, I think that that is a Castor Oil Plant, Ricinus communis. If I'm correct, you would be wise to check the IAP list for your area before planting it. It is a declared weed in several provinces.
Sincerely,
Joh

It's a piece of one of those old fashioned begonias - grown as a pot plant usually.

If I remember correctly it was the first pot plant I ever had ;D

Rex begonias are very good house plants. They enjoy shade locations, so use these colorful plants to brighten up those shady places in your home. Does not like frost.

Thank you so much, then this is my first ever begonia!  Going to rescue it from outside and put it in a pot, it can live with all my other houseplants. I see from my google search that they get pretty little flowers too!  ;D
