Summer Succulent garden
« on: February 10, 2014, 18:56:49 PM »
As it's so quiet on the forum lately, here are some photos of a 2 year old garden I did.

Just to show that aloes and succulent can be really pretty, even in summer. Some aloe species flower in summer, and some hybrids will flower twice a year.

Regards

Yes Clemens - it is very quiet.

Thanks for posting the pix of your succulent garden.

It is doing well for two years. The advantage of a garden like that would be in that you would not have to keep watering it.

Love the stone work border you built.

Hi Abby.

Yes, and a number of these aloes are hybrids I grew from seed, so getting flowers now is really quick.

That stone wall took some time, lots of measuring and fitting and discarding stone. It was therapeutic though!

Hi Abby.

There is weed-guard under the pebbles. Works really well. Lets water through, but obviously no weeds can grow through it.

And just cut a few holes for the plants.

I see the Aloe Cooperii and Aloe Dawei are close to flowering too. Will post a pic or two in full flower.

Regards.

Lovely Clemens, takes time and patience to lay out something like that to get it to look natural

Clemens that is a job well done. About two weeks ago an old friend called me and she is moving house. I had to go and "strip" the garden of what i wanted. I got some of the most amazing aloe's i have ever seen. Will post pics as soon as i can move around again.

Succulents are interesting, rewarding and very forgiving plants. i just love them.

Kind regards
Eddie

Hi Abby

No i can still move around but that's about it. I did some serious damage to my back and the physio currently keeps me stuck together with tape. it will heal i just have to take it easy. That's the difficult part.

Kind regards
Eddie
