Brugmansia seeds from Rena
« on: April 28, 2014, 08:44:43 AM »
Hi Rena,

I now have the first two Brugmansia trees flowering for me. These are from seeds I so kindly received from you.
They are both white but the form of the trumpets are slightly different. They are beautiful, thank you again.

Chris

Hi Chris

Wow - yours are way ahead of mine!  Did you plant them out?  Mine are still in pots.

The thanks go to Jose (Spanish eyes) who sent the seed.

BTW - do you still want a plant of my pinkish one?  If you do, I have plants - but the white and pink got muddled up ( :-[) - just waiting for them to flower.

Yes Rena, I have planted them out. They are super fast in the open ground. I have three more, but have planted them out much later. I think they might only flower next year. Yes, I would like to get a pink from you at some stage. Are they from cuttings or selfed seeds?

From cuttings. Chris - I've never seen seed on my plant.

Will contact you when a pink one flowers :)

Wow, that soft pink is stunning!  I love these and they grow so quickly, super rewarding!  Now that I have a bigger garden I will have to find a special spot for one again.

That is absolutely gorgeous  :P

Almost makes me change my opinion about them - I guess one could grow one in a pot - How long from seed to bloom ?

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Abby - we got the seed from Jose in Jan 2013 and Chris already had flowers in April 2014 if I'm not mistaken.  But I made the mistake of keeping my seedlings in too small pots for too long and I had to   wait till now for blooms.

But OMW the snails just love them and denude the stems in no time.  I'm trying to persuade hubby to make me some copper rings to put around their stems at ground level - I've been told snails get shocked if they try to crawl over the copper??

Amazing - such a short time from seed to bloom
You two are very very good gardeners
I hope Jose logs in and sees that beautiful pink colouring
- he might want it back
