What's going on in your garden in June 2014?
« on: June 19, 2014, 20:17:13 PM »
Weeds, weeds and more weeds....

But not all weeds - some viola tricolour popping up all over to my delight!

And maintenance - leaking fish pond

Cold and dark and wet - a bit of colour in hanging baskets

Retired - now full-time gardener - and loving it!

Hi Rena. Weedguard is a wonderful thing... Then cover it with mulch, pebbles or pieces of sandstone etc. Will work nicely in your rock garden.

At least you have greenery and moisture in your garden, here on the highveld, it's pretty much brown everywhere, and due to the dryness, lots of veldfires, resulting in a permanent smokey haze...

At least I have some aloes flowering, I'll share some a bit later.

Regards, and enjoy your rainy season.

Hi Clemens

The weeds and the creeping moles are in competition at the moment to see which wreak more havoc in the garden....

We laid sheets of that thick black plastic under the rockery but the moles still got through it and now their tunnels all over the garden and lawn are collapsing with all the rain.

But yes! It's still green all over! And so much better than your dryness and fires.  I don't think I'd be able to handle that so well.

Regards

I love those lachenalias, Aletta - ours are only starting to bud now.
