Gardenia thunbergia

I walk past this tree late afternoons and just have to stop and enjoy the mind-blowing scent of the blooms - unfortunately most of the flowers are scorched by then but the scent is still there from metres away - the blooms are bigger than the palm of my hand

Cannot say I've ever seen this one Rena

My neighbour has a Gardenia augusta "Florida"

but she unfortunately planted the shrub under her bedroom window and when it is blooming the fragrance is so potent that she has to keep the window closed,
but I get the benefit if the nor-eastern breeze is blowing the fragrance wafts to my place :)
Never regret anything that made you smile.

I love the Gardenia thunbergia! I had a beautiful flowering one in my previous garden.

I have one in a big pot in the garden - but it's flowers are different - the petals are longer and and pointed not as nicely shaped as the one I posted.
I resisted picking some seed and cuttings from the "nice" one ......well, I resisted until yesterday :o .... I'm sure I have friends who would love a plant as well!
And I really wouldn't mind one as well - from 2015 I'm going to start downsizing the garden ....again......
