Datura Metel "Blackcurrant Swirl"
« on: January 08, 2015, 20:53:06 PM »
Datura metel is a shrub-like perennial herb, commonly known as devil's trumpet. Sometimes called the angel's trumpet or moon flower as it is closely related genus Brugmansia. Flowers of both are about the same size.

What a glorious colour that is!
Sounds like a name for a fancy ice cream......

Hi Janmb
You also get them in yellow.
The difference between them and the moon flower is that they point upwards.

Hi LeRoy

Very pretty  - is that yellow one of yours?
My seedlings seem to be standing still at the moment - how often do you feed them?

Leroy,

Apparently flowers also come in white and even blue, and many cultivars have single, double or triple flowers.

Hi Rena
The yellow is one that I had flowering last year. The plant got badly damaged by hail this year and although I have seeds just have not got down to planting any yet. I have had bad hail 3 times this year. They are good growers so I have really not bothered to give them much fertilizer.
