Sandrosies (sand roses)
« on: May 18, 2015, 11:50:14 AM »
I know these aren't genuine roses but aren't theye fascinating - my friend has these two in her garden and many a visitor has remarked on the "succulents" that look like roses!

Haha Eddie! She found them somewhere (I must ask exactly where) on the sandy west coast where they are formed when sand wind and water combine in salt water basins where evaporation takes place over 100000s of years leaving these fascinating pieces.  Some are rock hard and others more brittle.  I would dearly love to have some in my garden but she is very UNKIND to me and wont part with one and her son has quite a few but also won't part with any -but I have a cycas that he wants -  that would make a happy swop ;D

I want one or two ... never seen anything like them.
Never regret anything that made you smile.
